Grooming Your English Bull Terrier
Bull Terriers love being groomed. They don’t need frequent bathing unless they have gotten really dirty. For bathing the easiest is to take them into the shower with you and use human shampoo and conditioner.
To prevent shedding or loose hairs you will need a very large bottle of baby powder and a FURminator. With your Bull Terrier relaxed and lying down sprinkle them with the baby powder and comb through with the FURminator. Push the button on the head of the FURminator to release fur into a dustbin or plastic bag and all done. For a happy Bull Terrier rub a little baby powder on their tummy, feet and inside the back legs, this prevents chaffing.

Dental care is important. Clean your Bull Terrier’s teeth once a week with a stiff brush to remove tartar and bacteria. There are also plenty of chew sticks on the market that will do the same job. Bones will also help, many butchers will cut a cow leg bone in half longitudinally so he can get at the marrow.
Your Bull Terrier needs to have his ears checked and cleaned periodically. Use cotton wool soaked in mentholated spirits to wipe inside the outer edge of his ears. If he has a large build up of wax or dark substance deeper in the ear canal a visit to the vet is called for
Bull Terriers must have their nails trimmed. Start when he is a baby and you should never have a problem. If nails are allowed to grow they will catch in items and may tear as well as causing the toe bones to twist and become deformed.

Grooming will be easy if you start when your Bull Terrier is still a puppy. Get him used to being brushed, play with his feet and ears and open his mouth often.
Many Bull Terriers have scabs and growths on their noses and bare skin areas. These can be caused by allergies to natural skin bacteria. Wipe your Bull Terriers nose and bare skin with diluted disinfectant and within a few weeks these should improve dramatically.
Swollen split and raw feet are often caused by your Bull Terrier spending a lot of time on concrete. Either seal the concrete, keep your Bull Terrier on grass or buy fake lawn for him or her. Imagine how your hands would itch if constantly in contact with cement dust.
